Tillamook

Justin's mom and step dad (Robin and David) are in Oregon for the month and we have been enjoying their visit! They are staying at their friend's vacation house in Tillamook, Oregon and we have gone out to visit them a few times. The house is located on the hilltop overlooking Oceanside and Tillamook Bay, and it is quite the site to see. We spent some time enjoying nature in the mountains, watching bald eagles, deer and elk roam freely. We also had amazing weather for the coast allowing us to spend two hot days at the beach (the Oregon coast is rarely warm enough for good beach days so we took advantage of it). The house is so high up that the clouds were below us. On Wednesday night,
the sun set on top of the clouds. It was so pretty!

Oddball Studios

On Thursday, Justin got his first tattoo! And before the end of the night he made plans for his second one! He went to Oddball Studios in the Clinton neighborhood (3 blocks from our apartment). The tattoo artist/co-owner is Jason, you can check out more of his work here.






The tattoo is of Hunter S. Thompson. It is a sketch/painting by Ralph Steadman from 1982. HST has been a long time favorite author of mine and I would say one of the most important writers/journalists of the 20th century. I think Jason did an excellent job with a difficult piece of artwork. Next month he will add some background elements to complete the 1/2 sleeve!
