Romp to Stomp

On Saturday, February 27th Justin and I (and hopefully Tiff and Aiden) will be participating in the Oregon Romp to Stomp Snowshoe Walk to benefit Breast Cancer research. Justin and I haven't been snowshoeing since we moved out of Michigan, but we love to do it. My friend Wendy told me about the event and I thought it would a great opportunity to get out and see Mt. Hood! I am not much of a fundraiser, but I am asking for donations of any amount help out with breast cancer research and awareness. Silver Falls State Park

I still have nightmares about Michigan rain... the sinking feeling of being "caught" outside when the rain starts! Where do I run to? Well it does rain more often in Portland... but it is an entirely different animal. A person fluent in statistics could explain it by stating that both places receive the same amount of rainfall, but it rains in Portland three times as much... enough! Waiting for a sunny day to do anything in Portland is a fool's errand. We went hiking in the rain. It was awesome. It felt like we should have made it to Washington or California for how long it took. We were passed by a family with a dog and a stroller! Ridiculous. We saw a gajillion waterfalls, not small drops in small streams... huge waterfalls that you wouldn't likely survive in a barrel. Here are the pictures to prove it.

Forest Park

Forest Park is the largest, forested natural area within city limits in the United States. It includes more than 5,000 acres. We took the dogs on a small fraction of the trails which turned out to be quite a muddy trip! We hiked 5 miles on an out and back trail that went past the Audubon Society Wildlife Center and almost to Pittock Mansion (next time!).

Weekend on the Coast

We stayed in a condo on the beach in Neskowin, OR for a weekend. The dogs were able to stay with us as well! Lots of great views and the dogs exhausted themselves by running all over the beaches. We went to lots of great places like Proposal Rock, Lincoln City, Pacific City, Cape Lookout, and Tillamook Bay. Here are some of the pictures!
